Stepping out of my comfort zone with some new stamps!!!

Since I started selling my work I thought it was time to step outside my comfort zone.
At Prairie Art and Stamps (a local craft store here) I had seen these stamps
They are different, very grunge and dark.
These are not stamps I would normally buy but I got to thinking...
someone will love these
and so I took the plunge and bought two new stamps.

Here are my newest members...

Prairie Misfit
and Moth Fab
So if you have seen my stuff you know these are way out of my comfort zone. Here is what I came up with:

Card using Moth -
In the close up you can read the stamp from Unity by Donna Downey. It says "She remained true to herself"
I used Tim Holtz paper on white card stock. I stamped the image and colored it with copics and then added some stickles to it.  I used my slingo gel pen to add the white around the outside and chalk ink for the sentiment. I added dimensionals to the image and adhered it to the card.

My card using Prairie Misfit:

Again I used Tim Holt paper on white card stock. I used copics to color the image and distressed the paper with tim holtz ink.  I used a gray chalk ink for the sentiment. This one says "She designed a life she loved."
I used random ribbon, added some dimensionals and there you have it.

The other project I did using this stamp was on paper adhered to canvas.

I went into my Basic Gray stash and found this great yellow paper. I stamped the image, colored it with copics and added stickels to it. I stamped the sentiment from Donna Downey's The Artist in You set.
I sooo sooo sooo LOVE her stamps!!
I distressed the edges with some brown distress ink.
Then glued the paper to the canvas using a white glue.
I decided I needed something else and
decided on using Ranges/Tim Holtzs
Rock Candy.
I thought about adding funky ribbon around the outer edge but as you can see I decided against that.

Here are some close ups

So there you have it. Some new items and new pieces of art!!! Let me know what you think. I took a step out of my comfort zone... what about you?

Have a great weekend and till next time....

Yes it is Friday and that means Unity Friends are showing off their flair!!!

Happy Friday to all!!!
Here are some of the things I have been working on this week.

First if a small gift box that I painted with tim holtz distress paint. I then stamped it and gave it a shot of heat to help set it.   I let it dry for a little while and then added a clear glossy coat and then the flower.

My second item is a small canvas covered in cosmo paper.  I pre-stamped the paper, again letting it dry and then added a glossy coat to it.  I stamped a tag and distressted it using tim's ink.  I stamped and cut out the scissors, needle and thread.  I added glossy accents to those items to give them a shiny effect.  I used my copics to add some color to the prima flowers and added a cordroy brad.  I used Golden Fiber Paste to give it the funky edges.  **** If anyone knows what stamp set the stamp I used on the tag goes to please let me know as I have had it sitting on my desk all summer because I can't figure it out. ****

My next couple of items are ceramic times covered in paper and then stamped.
I adhered magnets to the back and bam!! you now have magnets!!!
Note: don't try to add tim holtz distress paint to ceramic, it comes right back off when dry!

Lastly are a couple of cards I made. Not my favorite but I'm sure someone will like them.

I am sorry about the quality of my photos. I was laying in bed for the night when I realized that I forgot to do this post.  I have a weekly appointment with my trainer at 8:30 am so I figured I might as well get out of bed and get it done now because after my work out in the morning the last thing I am going to want to worry about is this.  So I quickly grabbed some items I have been working on and snapped some photos (not the best but they will do).

I have done so much more and promise to be sharing with you before next Friday!

Well make sure to check out the rest of the talent today. You can start at the Unity blog.

I hope you have a wonderful Friday and an even better weekend!!!

Until next time,

Happy Friends with Flair Friday!!!

Well it is Friday and I am on time with posting my card.  This card was created as a wedding invite. One of my co-workers, the art teacher, informed me before school was out that she was engaged and getting married on Labor Day weekend (happens to be the same weekend Aaron and I married).  So knowing that she loves handmade cards I suggested that my wedding gift to her could be the materials to help her create her own card.  She took my up on it.  This is what we came up with.

She was in love with everything Tim Holtz that I had, the bird cage/bird and his paper, inks, stickles, you name it she wanted to use it.  One more thing was needed... a wedding stamp. I know the exact one. That Mr and Mrs. stamp from the KOTM set.  So we had it.  I bought the cards from Michaels in the bulk pack and she found the ribbon at Hobby Lobby.  She is in love with the card, we made 100 of them and here is mine which I received in the mail today!  I suggested that she not put anything "in" the card and that she put the invitation working on paper that you can put in the card, then people can use the card for a wedding whenever they needed it.  There you have it!

Here is another card I made using another wonderful Unity set!!!

Don't you just love the cosmo sets! I do!!!

Here are some of the 3x3 cards I have been making.

Happy Friday! Have a little Faith!

I am in love with my new Donna Downey stamp set. I had these canvas' that I bought on clearance at Michael's  a few months back and have been wanting to use them. So I decided to use my favorite stamps and this is what I came up with.

This was my first one...
That was the first one I did. I used my Tim Holtz mask, some brads from Hobby Lobby and SU, My flowers were cream colored and then I spritzed them.  I used copics on my image which I stamped on white inchies. I also sued Tim's ink on the mask. It was pink but when I added it to the yellow, I got an orange color.

My second one I did Thursday night.  I had a larger canvas (12x12) and tried that one this time.

A quick recall on what I used...
Tim Holtz - bird, ink, distress paint
Ribbon is misc from store
Brown ink on tag is Unity
Stamped image on white inchies with brown Unity ink and colored with my copics. Here Lips are with real red marker from SU... (beware that this smears when you add modge podge to it!)
The flowers are from Michaels and cordory brads from SU
Butterflies punched out with my Martha punch and then glitzed up with swarski crystals.

Well I hope you like these as I am thrilled with them. I am hoping they will sell at the farmers market this weekend.... we shall see.

Have a wonderful Friday and an even better weekend.  Make sure to check out all the amazing talent showcased on this hop.
